This acai smoothie bowl is a perfect energizing breakfast for pre or post-workout fuel, or enjoyed anytime because acai bowls are just that good!
We had our first acai bowl at a little organic smoothie bar called Bebebar in San Francisco, and were in love!
Acai is an amazonian superfood, nicknamed the "beauty berry", and is packed full of nutrients, antioxidants, amino acids, essential omega fatty-6 acids, and has immune boosting capabilities. With all the amazing health benefits and taste, we decided to start making them at home and love them!
Yields: 1-2 smoothie bowls
1 organic acai frozen packet (we use Sambazon)
Handful of kale or spinach
1 cup frozen mango
1 cup frozen mixed berries
Splash of coconut water
1. If using kale, remove the stems - you don't bits of kale stems in their smoothie bowl!
2. Add all ingredients to blender and blend until everything is evenly mixed. You can add more/less coconut water depending on the consistency you want for your smoothie bowl
Classic toppings for an acai bowl include granola, banana, coconut flakes, berries, and almonds. As you can see from the photos, we love using all different kinds of toppings!
